Dick Sem has extensive experience as a security expert witness in providing Security Expert and Workplace Violence Expert Witness and Litigation Support services for both Plaintiff and Defense throughout North America.  He is known and respected within the security and loss prevention profession and industry as a leader and innovator; and his demeanor, thoroughness and professionalism project integrity and experience.  His over thirty-eight years of experience within the security industry and profession conveys a unique level of qualification as a security expert witness.

About Dick Sem, Security Expert

Dick was Director of Security and Crisis Management for Waste Management, a $ 12B international firm with 60,000 employees; was a Vice President of Pinkerton - Securitas, the World's largest security firm, where he was responsible for 18 offices in 11 states of the Northeast U.S. and 4,000 security officers; is a past President of the International Security Management Association (ISMA); and serves on the Board of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC).  He is a member of InfraGard, the partnership between the U.S. Justice Department and critical infrastructure industries, and has been a member of ASIS International (formerly American Society for Industrial Security) since 1974.  He has been board certified as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 1979 and is certified as a Certified Security Consultant (CSC).

As a security expert with Sem Security Management, Dick Sem has provided security and workplace violence advice and support to a wide range of businesses and organizations.


For What?

We provide Security, Loss Prevention and Workplace Violence Expert Witness services in cases involving workplace violence, security-related negligence, wrongful death, foreseeability, failure to protect, use of force, inadequate premises protection, security and loss prevention industry standards and practices, etc.  We also support cases, as security expert, related to the adequacy of security-related employment and screening practices, security and loss prevention policies and procedures, security officer training and supervision, etc.  

Dick Sem is particularly experienced as a security expert witness in all aspects of contract or proprietary security guard, security officer or loss prevention officer management, training and deployment.  He spent decades serving as both contractor and client/buyer of security officer services as well as manager of proprietary security guard programs.
